POSITION SUMMARY:
The Associate Model Designer position requires the technical abilities and an understanding of basic engineering principles of medical devices. The position also requires the fundamental knowledge and understanding of manual machining, CNC machining, lathe turning, and other fabrication methods.The individual will work under the guidance of a more senior Model Designer on projects that involve engineering, designing, fabricating, assembling, and debugging of prototypes, fixtures, and equipment that supports the business needs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:
- Be mentored by a more senor Model Designer and Management.
- Involved in fabrication and building prototypes, fixtures, gages, and equipment
- Develop adaptability to adapt ideas and lessons learned cross all phase of different projects within the department.
- Ability to understand the relationship between the requirements, design intents, and fabrication needs of the projects.
- Requires ability to juggle priorities to align with the department priorities
- Develop knowledge of processing/manufacturing technologies related to the manufacturability of medical devices.
- Develop ability to reverse engineer, capture, and document changes on the fly.
- Develop the ability to work to tight tolerances (+/- .0005”)

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Undergraduate degree, vocational school, or demonstrated equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- 0-2 year relevant experience
- Problem solving/troubleshooting experience
- Basic understanding of machining and fabrication fundamentals
- Basic understanding of CAD/CAM fundamentals
- MasterCam experience or equivalent
- General Knowledge of medical procedures and devices
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications
- Computer/data entry skills
- Verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in a team environmen
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Assembly experience
- Computer networking experience
- Written/report writing experience
- Engineering/design background
- MasterCam Mill experience
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to regularly walk, sit, or stand as needed
- Ability to occasionally bend and push/pull as needed
- Ability to regularly lift up to 25 pounds, occasionally lift up to 25 pounds
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
