Bar Harbor Bank & Trust is seeking a Community Banking Relationship Manager for the area of Rockland, Maine. This position is responsible for expanding our existing customer relationships, and developing new business relationships with small business customers. This position works closely with branch relationship managers to identify appropriate financing and/or deposit solutions, effectively manage the loan process from origination through booking, and actively manage the client relationship.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with branch relationship managers and others to deliver excellent customer service experience, including proactively providing feedback on loan application “fit” within underwriting guidelines and clearly setting expectations of process and timeline.
- Cultivate new lending/deposit gathering opportunities in target markets. Generate leads through branch network, calling existing contacts, centers of influence, and internal partners.
- Efficiently process application packages, entering and processing loans in system, gathering all required documents, and closing out applications within target timeframes.
- Analyze historical and projected cash flow, and assess business viability through interviews with business owners and review of loan application, pertinent financial information, references, and any other relevant data.
- Support portfolio management activities, including monitoring of high-risk loans and leading collection efforts on loan portfolio.
- Proactively providing feedback on loan application “fit” within underwriting guidelines and clearly setting expectations of process and timeline.
- Promote a positive attitude and team approach to customer relationships. Cross-sell bank products and services, with a particular emphasis on fee income growth opportunities.
- Ensure that approval of new loan requests comply with loan underwriting, policies and procedures.
- Support portfolio management activities including monitoring of high-risk loans and leading collection efforts on loan portfolio.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of all Bank loan and deposit products.
- Represent the Bank through participation in various industry and community activities and networking events. Actively promote the Bank’s interest in the marketplace.
This position requires a candidate with the following knowledge, ability, and skills:
- Bachelors’ degree or equivalent.
- 3-5 experience in negotiating and structuring commercial loans; extensive knowledge of business banking, retail banking and product offerings; and working level knowledge of credit adjudication, and portfolio management.
- Financial accounting and credit analysis skills.
- Knowledge of debt service.
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal, written and presentation).
