Bar Harbor Bank & Trust is seeking a part time, 24 hours a week, Commercial Appraisal Analyst to join our team!

Responsibilities (Essential):

  • Analyzing the reasonableness of the appraisal’s market value conclusion for financing purposes.
  • Communicate to the production staff, underwriters and member of management regarding the review decisions in order to resolve appraisal disputes/concerns and loan to value issues.
  • Management and oversight of the Bank’s Appraisal Management Companies (AMCs).
  • Communicate with appraisers to resolve any quality issues or concerns.
  • Ensure all regulatory guidelines and bank policies are strictly upheld.
  • Comprehend and adhere to all federal banking regulations in accordance with Bar Harbor Bank & Trust’s policies and procedures.
  • Act as a resource for Lenders and Management with regard to regulatory issues, appraisal matters and loan structuring.
  • Assist Department Manager with various tasks including management reporting needs.
  • Enthusiastically support the Bank’s Guiding Principles and Brand Behaviors.
  • Adhere to federal regulatory requirements, such as the Anti-Money Laundering and Bank Secrecy Acts, and all established policies and procedures.

Required Education & Experience:

  • Minimum of a high school degree or the equivalent
  • A strong background in appraisal industry concepts and practices (commercial experience required, additional experience preferred).
  • Candidate most either hold Certified General Appraisal licensure, or anticipate becoming licensed within 3 months of hire.
  • Candidate holding MAI designation or working towards the designation are preferred.
  • Professional, a multitasker, works well under pressure in a fast-paced environment, a problem solver and a team player.
  • Computer skills and the ability to adapt to various software programs required.
  • Professional customer relations skills.
  • Familiarity with banking industry regulation as related to appraisals and real estate transaction, required.
  • Secondary market knowledge is helpful.
  • This position requires travel approximately 5% of work hours. The majority of work hours are anticipated to be remote.
