Automation Machine Operator
Job Summary
The Automation Machine Operator will observe, monitor, and maintain production activities on automated track systems and clinical testing equipment in Ascend Clinical’s Sunnyvale, CA laboratory facility in accordance with company policies and procedures, manufacturer’s documentation, industry standards and local, state and federal regulatory requirements. Duties include providing guidance to Clinical Laboratory colleagues and junior Automation Machine Operators.
Essential Functions:
- Monitor and responsible for the automation track performance as a fully competent Automation Machine Operator and can train others in all primary essential job functions
- Perform adjustments and notify a supervisor of potential substantive issues that will adversely affect track operations and production
- Monitor systems for any communication errors between the automation track system and instrumentation and communicate to a supervisor
- Understand the technical and mechanical requirements of the automation track systems
- Use good judgment when assessing issues, quickly identify issues needing escalation, and notify appropriate managers or supervisors
- Work with Customer Service Engineers (CSE) for ongoing maintenance, troubleshooting and process improvement
- Monitor existing automated or semi-automated processes to improve efficiency, robustness and quality
- Troubleshoot and perform machine adjustments on automated track machinery – May provide assistance to Clinical Laboratory colleagues, supervisory staff and others during the course of shift
- Collaborate with a CSE for instructions with higher level issues that may arise and escalate to a supervisor, as necessary
- Periodically cross train in technical departments when available; periodically work in areas where cross training occurs to maintain competency. Assist with various projects as assigned by direct supervisor
Qualifications:
- Two or more years of experience working in a high speed automation or biomechanics packaging line or manufacturing environment
- Proven experience with working with automation, manufacturing, food production or automotive lines
- Knowledge of industrial machinery or related field with an emphasis on maintenance and troubleshooting mechanical systems is a plus
- Troubleshooting skills and aptitude with automated track lines. A problem solver, creative thinker, flexible and adaptable
- VAbility to complete regularly assigned tasks and projects consistently. Ability to balance department requirements with production needs
