Business Development Manager, MDx Controls and Reagents

As Business Development Manager, Mol Dx Controls and Reagents you will be responsible for establishing new accounts and channels in order to sell Asuragen’s portfolio of Armored controls and reagents globally in order to achieve establish growth targets. You will work closely with Marketing to execute on commercial strategies to drive profitable revenue growth by expanding our account base. You will also work closely with other divisions (Business Units) and geographic regions within Bio-Techne and leverage existing relationships and channels to penetrate markets and grow share.

Our primary customer targets include molecular diagnostic kit manufacturers, and our objective is to be a value added strategic supplier of controls and reagents in an OEM capacity. We may also engage with distributors in geographic regions where we do not have extensive local presence or market knowledge and work through the distributors to reach our target OEM customer. We also target suppliers of proficiency panels and work to become embedded in that market segment.

In this role you are responsible for identifying potential customers, calling on them and using your sales skills, market knowledge and internal resources in order to understand customer pain points and position our products as solutions. You will be responsible for the sales process from lead follow up to lead qualification to quoting and product evaluation to supply agreement execution and forecasting. You will have access to internal technical, marketing, support and account management resources to assist with each step in the process, but we are looking for you to lead the process and have deep customer intimacy.

Key Requirements and Duties:

  • Create and implement effective direct sales strategies and work cross functionally to deliver sales objectives.
  • Manage the sales process and track leads, opportunities, and contacts in SalesForce.com
  • Maintain and update the sales funnel including deal value, next steps and expected close date.
  • Establish strong and trusting working relationships both internally and externally
  • Work collaboratively with Account Management once an agreement has closed for day-to-day management of an account.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual sales forecasts.
  • Manage to meet/exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual sales forecasts.
  • Negotiate supply agreements with the assistance of the Legal team.
  • Establish effective relationships and collaborations with other departments (Marketing, Finance, Customer Service, etc.) to address key business issues and opportunities.
  • Maintain competitive knowledge to create and adjust sales strategies.
  • Attend clinical meetings, seminars, and conferences as appropriate.

Education/Experience:

  • Education level minimum of Bachelor’s degree.
  • 5 or more years’ experience in business development or business to business sales with a demonstrated ability of achieving goals
  • A proven track record in Life Science or Molecular Diagnostics Industry
  • Knowledgeable about ex- US Dx markets in the Americas (LATAM, Canada)
  • Experience managing channels of distribution (distributors, OEM partners, etc.) required
  • Intermediate to advanced MS Office skills & CRM systems (salesforce.com a plus)
  • Proven successful leadership, team management and budget experience
  • Knowledge of relevant markets, molecular biology topics and products
  • Strong time management and organization skills

Preferable Skills and Attributes:

  • In depth knowledge of the Molecular Diagnostics space
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and presentation and negotiation skills required.
  • Competitor and team oriented
  • Broad customer base familiarity and network in the Molecular Diagnostic manufacturing space
