- Under the direction of the Director and/or Manager of Patient Access Services Call Center performs the function of obtaining referrals, and/or authorizations prior to the service date for test, procedures and admissions into the hospitals. Maintains awareness of different sources available to inquire or request referrals and/or authorizations including verification of insurance eligibility and benefits. Participate in training new staff. Document accounts with referral and authorization information, co-payment and/or deductible information, and notification of a patient having to sign an Advance Beneficiary Notice or Non-Covered Service Waiver Form. Notifying the proper individuals of patients that do not have a prior referral and/or authorization for the test, exam, procedure, or admission into the hospital. Accepts other duties, as assigned.
Education/Experience:
- High school graduate required. Advanced education preferred.
- 5 years’ experience in a health care setting, preferably in
Registration, referrals and authorizations. - Typing speed 50 WPM, CRT experience, medical terminology.
- Third party payer knowledge and insurance background required.
