Data Analyst

SPECIFIC JOB DESCRIPTION:

This position is located in the Office of the Director for Administration and Management (ODA&M) providing direct support to the Integration and Program Support Directorate (I&PSD).

Specifically, candidates will:

  • Determine how decision support systems provide the information required to make effective business decisions, translating requirements into applications that employ appropriate decision support and reporting tools.
  • Synthesize large amounts of data, identifying common threads and connections.
  • Use data analytics/data visualization to turn complex information into succinct information for senior leader decision-making and policy development.
  • Use broad experience and technical knowledge to propose solutions to complex business problems.
  • Take the lead in driving the implementation of the recommended solutions.
  • Have familiarity with DoD organization and decision-making and the ability to work in fluid environments with evolving direction.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Expertise in decision support, data analytics, metric development and comparison, and other data-based capabilities or use in the effective management of a complex organization with multiple lines of functional activities.
  • Development of data visualizations utilizing Microsoft Power BI
  • Focus on operational and project performance/improvement with knowledge of tools that enable effective decision-making processes.

Specific tasks include:

  • Using tools and portals that link and integrate authoritative data sources for tracking, monitoring, and reporting on senior decision making.
  • Producing products that visually display the sequencing, alignment and/or integration of multiple senior leader forums and other decision-making across the DOD enterprise.
  • Developing and leveraging tools to generate tailored report to support senior leader oversight and management of key governance initiatives.
  • Promoting and maintaining strategic and high priority initiative tracking and reporting.
  • Writing effective and accurate reviews and notes from high level OSD governance forums.

Requirements:

  • Secret clearance required at date of hire
  • Professionalism, tact, and experience working with senior DoD leadership.
  • High level of proficiency of the English language, both written and oral.
  • Highly proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite of applications, especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Energetic and the capability to work in a fast-paced team environment, adapt to rapidly changing requirements, and multi-task capabilities.
  • Ability to produce quality work independently or in a group setting, provide solutions to customer issues, and solve problems quickly.

EDUCATION & YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in a discipline relevant to the position (Data Science & Analytics; Business Analytics preferred) plus at least 5 years of professional experience.
