Geotechnical Engineer
What We Are Looking For:
This position will be located onsite in Paducah, KY and will work closely with our Instrumentation Supervisor and manage on-site instrumentation activities including manual reading of instruments, managing collected instrumentation data, and providing weekly/monthly reports of collected data to Client. Provide interface with Client for instrumentation and training in the use of software database management system. Work may also include supervising drilling rigs, collecting and cataloging soil samples, and preparing written reports and boring logs.
What You’ll Do/Geotechnical Instrumentation:
- Lead technical efforts for maintaining automated geotechnical instrumentation installations
- Provide maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and testing of geotechnical instruments
- Coordinate day to day operations with Project Instrumentation Supervisor, General Contractor and Owner
- Collect and catalog soil samples during supervised drilling operations
- Assisting with the planning, design, estimating and management of multiple project phases
- Providing instrumentation services during construction on other projects involving earth work, dams, deep foundations, support of excavations, ground improvement, and pipelines
Project Engineering:
- Interface with General Contractor and Owner on a daily basis
- Prepare instrumentation data reports, drawings, and specifications
- Attend weekly meetings with General Contractor and Owner on instrumentation status
- Conduct field observations, site visits, and exploration programs. Verify that work performed complies with contract requirements
- Develop and review quality control specifications and documentation during engineering design projects and during field construction activities
- Utilize computer software for data review and reporting, and work efficiently with other team members for project completion.
- Perform job duties in accordance with all BDI health, safety, and quality management practices
- Other duties as assigned
What You Need to Be Successful:
- Ability to manage and hold yourself accountable while working independently on-site
- Communicate effectively and timely to all involved parties both oral and written
- Ability to use Eagle.IO, Platform Interactive, Logger Net, and Team View software
- Proven expertise in selection and installation of Geotechnical Instrumentation

Qualifications:
- 3+ Years of related Geotechnical Instrumentation experience
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or Geology from an accredited University
- Professional Engineering or Geologist Certification or ability to obtain such within one year
