Scientist/Senior Scientist, Bioanalytical

We are seeking an experienced scientist to join the Development Sciences team at Avidity Biosciences in San Diego, CA. This position will reside within the Bioanalytical Sciences (BA) group with responsibility for developing bioanalytical assays for research and development programs. The ideal candidate will be able to independently develop novel methods for quantifying the analytes of interest, mange projects and mentor team members. This position will require hands on laboratory experience and a successful track record of developing bioanalytical assays for preclinical and clinical drug candidates. Additional responsibilities include representing the BA function on research teams, mentoring research associates, responsible for processing and analyzing samples, among others. This position will also require transfer of these methods to external service providers (CROs), as well as translation of the methods into human matrix to support clinical studies. Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop of novel methods for measurement of drug candidates in plasma & tissue to support pre-clinical and clinical programs.
  • Design and perform experiments, analyze experimental data, interpret results, troubleshoot assays, and guide appropriate next steps
  • Lead bioanalytical technical discussion for more than one program
  • Collaborate and communicate across departments, participate on drug development project teams, and function as a bridge between pre-clinical and clinical development
  • Manage relationships with external service providers
  • Demonstrate effective presentation and verbal communication at internal meetings as well as clear written communication
  • Mentor associate scientists and junior team members.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD in Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Biology, or related discipline with 2+ years of postdoctoral and/or industry experience
  • Experience developing bioanalytical assays across multiple platforms is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot bioanalytical assays is required.
  • Knowledge and experience with bioanalytical assays supporting protein or RNA therapeutics is highly desired.
  • Method development experience on quantitative RT-PCR, ELISA/MSD (PK and ADA) assays is highly desired.
  • Clinical bioanalytical experience is highly desired.
  • Hands-on lab experience with various laboratory techniques including, Nanostring, and LC-MS/MS, HPLC, cell culture, RNA isolation, is a plus.
  • Experience working with external contract labs is a plus.
  • Experience with GxP bioanalytical assays is a plus.
  • Knowledge on various in-vitro & in-vivo bioanalytical assays to support drug metabolism (DMPK) is a plus.
  • Ability to conduct self-directed research and to work effectively in a dynamic environment with a diverse team of coworkers.
