Senior/Executive Director, Pharmacokinetics/Pharmacodynamics (title commensurate with experience)

Avidity Biosciences is pioneering Antibody Oligonucleotides Conjugates (AOC) as a new class of RNA therapeutics to tackle devastating diseases with high unmet need. We seek a seasoned PKPD scientist to lead the PKPD department within Development Sciences. This is a highly visible role in the company that is accountable for the translational understanding of the AOC platform. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader that has proven ability to devise fit-for-purpose analysis/solutions across Discovery through early-stage Development programs. Experience with motivating, mentoring and recruiting high caliber pharmacokinetics, DMPK, and bioanalytical scientists highly desirable.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the preclinical pharmacokinetics/DMPK department to support programs from Discovery to Registration
  • Define the preclinical PKPD/DMPK strategy for AOC platform and implement across research and development programs
  • Lead PKPD modeling activities to support the mechanistic understanding of complex biologic systems and mechanisms of action. Accountable for efficacious dose and exposure range predications to support dose selection for pharmacology, toxicology and first-in-human studies
  • Interpret preclinical pharmacokinetic data to inform the design of preclinical pharmacology and GLP toxicology studies
  • Accountable for pharmacokinetic and DMPK sections of regulatory documents

Education:

  • PhD degree in pharmaceutics, biochemistry, pharmacokinetics, pharmacology, or related discipline

Requirements:

  • 10+ years experience in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry in preclinical drug discovery and development
  • Experience with large molecule (monoclonal antibody) and/or oligonucleotide therapeutic modalities
  • Familiarity with bioanalytical assay development desired
  • Must be detail oriented with strong documentation and organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work in a matrix environment and develop relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to efficiently relay information to project teams and other key stakeholders
  • High scientific rigor with passion for understanding PK/ADME data in the context of complex biology
