Head of Business Development

The Head of Business Development is responsible for creating strategic business partnerships and driving new revenue sources for the organization. As Head of Business Development, you will play a critical role in establishing, developing, and growing Ansa’s business and the company profile, as well as developing and implementing the business development objectives.

Reporting to the Chief Business Officer, you will enjoy a high level of autonomy, responsibility, and accountability. Critical to your success will be your ability to develop and expand new business opportunities, develop strategic partnerships, and work closely with customers to understand their needs and ensure customer satisfaction.

The Head of Business Development will develop outstanding customer and partner relationships, build brand value, and work closely with other members of the company to enhance business growth by exploring new growth areas, generating ideas for new products and services to address changing customer needs, and identifying partnering opportunities that enhance and expand the business.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of success within business development, significant experience and in-depth understanding of the life science reagent supply and services business, outstanding communication skills, technical understanding, and a consultative approach.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Creating, administering, and implementing winning business development strategies for Ansa’s technology offerings.
  • Seeking out and sourcing new customer and partners by developing networks and independently identifying and developing relevant resources for new business development.
  • Representing the organization in various functions such as conferences, showcases, and seminars to create awareness about the Company and products/services and generate leads.
  • Developing and nurturing relationships with various key strategic individuals like scientific key opinion leaders, key industry players, and investors.
  • Collaborate with members of the Ansa team to ensure an excellent customer experience across all customer interactions from needs assessment through delivery and follow up.
  • Work collaboratively with the CBO and Marketing to develop creative outreach strategies to attract and retain customers.
  • Negotiate contracts with vendors, suppliers, distributors, or other business partners.
  • Advising senior management on business strategies and opportunities for growth

Essential Skills/Attributes of the Ideal Candidate:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, or a related field. Advanced degree in science is preferred.
  • A minimum of 8 years of professional work experience in life science tools sales, B2B sales, business development, partner/customer relationship management.
  • Strategic and analytical thinker who understands technology and business strategy.
  • Exceptional relationship management skills and the ability to build and grow connections with people of all types and backgrounds.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Dynamic and engaging, with a sense of humor and ability to not take oneself too seriously.
  • Independent critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable and confident using technology as an integral part of the sales process
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to keep multiple projects and customer engagements active at once.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and ability to navigate uncertainty.
  • Interest in working as part of a small and growing company, with awareness about the opportunities and challenges that come with a highly adaptive environment.
