Incoming Inspector and Material Handler

The Incoming Inspector and Material Handler is a role which includes both incoming inspection and material handling responsibilities. This person will be responsible for inspecting incoming raw materials and printed materials for quality and determining the disposition of material, as well as the physical and transactional movement of materials to support production activities.

Hours for second shift are Monday-Friday 2:30PM-11PM EST.

Job description:

  • Responsible to learn and apply select skills for incoming inspector as needed (approx. 20-30 hours per week)
    Inspects incoming materials for quality and releases to inventory using electronic inventory system
    Conducts printed material inspection for specification compliance
    Performs record retention duties for the incoming group
    Completes basic incoming testing on chemicals as required
  • Responsible to learn and apply select skills for material handler as needed (approx. 10-20 hours per week)
    Follow work instructions and supervisor priorities to provide accurate and timely kitted material to support production activity.
    Locate and retrieve materials in a safe manner in accordance with storage and handling requirements.
    Recognize, investigate, and resolve inventory discrepancies.
    Communicate status of material kits to functional groups.
    Process material transactions accurately and timely.
    Maintain integrity of inventory to revision, lot and expiration.
    Operate powered industrial truck material handling equipment as required.

  • A history of good communication and teamwork skills which can be demonstrated in previous experience
  • Works independently with minimal supervision on routine tasks
  • Demonstrates flexibility to work on multiple tasks and can reorder tasks based on priority
  • Supports and helps coworkers to meet deadlines, achieve goals
  • Manages time well and will put in extended time as needed

Minimum qualifications:

  • Ability to regularly lift and carry 50 lbs.
  • Ability to climb ladder and stock shelves up to 15 feet.
  • Ability to work in 2-8 degree centigrade environment for extended periods
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in an inventory-based function.
  • Excellent computer skills, with ERP system experience.
  • Powered industrial truck experience preferred.
  • Must be certified or willing to obtain certification for power equipment operation.

The following skills would also be beneficial but are not required:

  • A previous knowledge of quality expectations in a cGMP environment
  • Understands the basic ISO, ASQ protocols and other applicable standards
  • Prior work history with incoming quality inspection and release
  • Experience with MasterControl or IQMS in previous roles
