Inside Sales Representative - Cell Culture

Position Summary:
In this Inside Sales Representative role, you will primarily be responsible for achieving sales quota for Fetal Bovine Serum and other cell culture products from the Bio-Techne portfolio. You will be located at the Bio-Techne headquarters in Minneapolis, MN interfacing primarily via telephone and email with existing and prospective customers in the assigned territory. You will also gain proficiency and have responsibility for identifying new leads on all Bio-Techne products, protein analysis platforms, and custom services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Achieve consumables sales quota for a designated territory in the US/Canada. Additional products and/or services may be added to the portfolio.
- Cross-sell Fetal Bovine Serum, classical cell culture media and supplements, and other cell culture products to existing and prospective customers. Qualify leads for potential customers received from marketing campaigns, tradeshows, website or other programs.
- Work with field sales team and on your own to identify opportunities and quote related products.
- Consult with prospective customers on their current and future business needs.
- Acquires technical knowledge to detail products and answers questions typically generated by customers, trade shows, publications, web and press releases leads.
- Understands and uses appropriate sales promotional tools and educational support materials to send literature based upon customer’s needs.
- Maintain Salesforce.com database to document interactions with leads and/or customers.
- Update and produce timely activity reports.
- Stay up-to-date on and follows all procedures related to this job which can affect the quality of products or services provided to our customers.
- Demonstrates strong communication, probing and questioning skills. Exemplifies data gathering, organizational, and dissemination of information in a consistent and timely manner.
- Identify and execute continuous process improvement objectives to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of inside sales processes.
- Occasional travel, no more than 10% and not on a routine weekly basis, within the US to relevant company events, tradeshows, or customer visits when support of a field sales rep is needed.
- Follows company policies and practices as outlined in the Handbook and follows guidelines regarding safety as outlined in the AWAIR, Chemical Hygiene and Exposure Control manuals in accordance to the job.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Position requires a Bachelor’s degree ideally a biological science discipline, with one to three years of related technical experience and training. Experience in cell culture is desirable. Experience in a high activity sales environment in life sciences or other scientific or technical industries is desirable. Attention to detail, organization, and data analysis skills are required. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel are required. Must be able to work in a fast pace environment, multi task, and have good communication skills, both verbally and in writing.

- Ability to plan, organize and multi-task to complete assignments in an efficient manner.

- Ability to work hours that conform to standard business operations 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.
