Salary Range: 140K-200K depending on experience

Position Summary:

Bio-Techne has a great opportunity for a highly motivated and hands-on Manager, System Product Engineer that will lead the System Product Engineering group. This team’s focus is to drive projects and actions to enhance the customer experience and product quality. The Manager of the System Product Engineering group will focus on all system level engineering activities related to the instrument and consumable of our existing and future innovative products. The scope of work are, but not limited to, troubleshooting, requirements development, integration testing, system verification testing, data mining & analysis, characterization, process development, and design transfer to manufacturing & field.

Key Attributes/Experience

  • Will be responsible for the meeting the success metrics of the system product engineering group (replacement rates, MTBF, case #s, etc.) across the WBU and BBU
  • Will lead the system product engineering team to execute and deliver on impactful projects related to the customer experience
  • Hire and build the team as needed
  • Will mentor a group of system engineers and help them align their career growth goals with the company goals
  • Significant hands-on experience troubleshooting instrument platforms where root causes are unclear if the issue is instrument, cartridge/consumable, or assay.
  • Experience and effective communication to drive/manage projects that involves different organizations such as field, marketing, sales, operations, & development. Experience with collaborating with vendors to improve their quality
  • Strong system integration skills with experience with development of an opto-mechanical instrument that requires multi-engineering disciplines. Experience with contributing and influencing development design.
  • Design experiments & analyze large data sets using statistical analysis

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field of study required.
  • 10 years relevant work experience in complex instruments/systems involving integration of mechanical/electrical/optical/software components and subsystems. Strong multidisciplinary technical skills are essential.
  • Bonus: Some software skills/experiences to build websites/interface and/or automated data mining
  • Bonus: Some experience with capillary electrophoresis, ion exchange, HPLC, & mass spectrometry
