Materials Management Specialist

Primary Duties:

  • Manage all materials flows within the organizations, inclusive of raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods
    Perform transactions needed to transfer materials
    Find automation opportunities to eliminate manual transactions
  • Monitor and manage finished goods inventory “health”.
  • Ensure production aligns with customer demand and make recommendations to management accordingly.
  • Create reports for management to understand the state of finished good inventory and “reserve status.”
  • Maintain integrity of Bills of Material, and issue work orders
  • Create assemblies in the ERP system in order to simplify BOMs and consumption
  • Create BOMS and routings for new finished goods
  • Close out work orders to consume material in the ERP system
  • Audit inventory and perform cycle counts to ensure accuracy
  • Monitor excess and obsolete inventory / plan for upcoming expiration
  • Manage raw materials and consumables inventory via principles of Materials Requirement Planning
    Establish safety stocks and reorder points
    Establish economic order quantities
    Monitor inventory levels
    Monitor open order report
    Submit purchase order requisitions
  • Create production schedule of buffer solutions based on current inventory and demand forecast

Job Qualifications/Require:

  • Minimum of an BS degree, with the major course of study in manufacturing operations, business administration, engineering, logistics, or science.
  • Experience working with ERP systems
  • 2-5 years of supply chain experience
  • Knowledge of the order-to-cash cycle
  • Experience with Materials Requirements Planning
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Ability to make decisions and solve practical problems with a variety of variables in situations where standardization exists.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and collaborative approach; focused on building and maintaining successful professional relationships.
  • Coordination and organizational skills as demonstrated in multi-tasking and responding with flexibility and a sense of urgency to business needs in a pressured environment, while sustaining high levels of quality and service standards, and maintaining a consistently strong work ethic.

Prefer:

  • APICS certification (CPIM) preferred
  • Experience with Sage X3 ERP systems
  • Experience with Six Sigma or other process improvement methodologies
