Job Summary
A Metrology Associate is responsible for calibrating inspection, measurement, and test equipment (IM&TE) in the electrical, dimensional, optical, physical, mechanical, environmental, and/or chemical disciplines to ensure measurement accuracy. The individual is this role identifies and utilizes appropriate measurement procedures, performs corrective actions to address identified measurement problems, and adapts equipment, standards, and procedures to accomplish unique measurements.

Responsibilities:

  • Apply knowledge of measurement science, mathematics, physics, and electronics to calibrate inspection, measurement, and test equipment.
  • Evaluate new calibration procedures.
  • Identify and utilize appropriate measurement procedures.
  • Perform corrective actions to address identified measurement problems.
  • Perform routine calibrations, qualifications, and routine repairs.
  • Perform laboratory and/or departmental housekeeping.
  • Coordinate and/or author Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and forms for depot-related functions.
  • Perform data reviews of internal as well as external documents generated in support of instrument maintenance, calibration, and repair.
  • Manage instrument lists through creation, modification, and decommission.
  • Scan/upload documents to the instrument database.
  • Host external vendors, as needed.
  • Prepare requisitions in support of instrument maintenance and repair.
  • Conduct training on instrumentation assigned to Metrology depot.
  • Provide support to all Metrology staff as appropriate.

Job Qualifications

  • • HS/GED/ with 2 or more years of relevant experience; contract research organization experience preferred and American Society for Quality Certified Calibration Technician (ASQ CCT) certification preferred; or, • Bachelor's/Master's degree in a relevant field with no experience; contract research organization experience preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
  • A working knowledge of systems required to perform daily tasks (e.g. QAAD, ExyLIMS, eDocs, etc.)
  • HAbility to communicate verbally and in writing at all levels inside and outside the organization.
  • Basic familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Computer skills, commensurate with Essential Functions, including the ability to learn a validated system.
  • Ability to work extended hours beyond normal work schedule to include, but not limited to evenings, weekends, extended shifts, and/or extra shifts, sometimes on short notice.
  • Ability to work under specific time constraints.
