Security Classification/Freedom of Information Analyst

SPECIFIC JOB DESCRIPTION:
ANSER is seeking a mid-level analyst to advise and assist the Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Nuclear Matters (OUSD/NM) with analyzing, researching, reviewing, and staffing security classification and Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) actions.
Specifically, the analyst will:
- Review classification and declassification requests. This may involve conducting research, participating in joint Department of Energy (DOE)/Department of Defense (DoD) classification working groups, coordinating with other departments and agencies, and providing detailed classification or declassification recommendations to government officials.
- Provide technical assistance and the initial technical reviews of Freedom of Information Act requests, Mandatory Declassification Reviews, and pre-publication security reviews
- Provide technical assistance and support for day-to-day security management tasks
- Complete administrative paperwork for all reviewed files and provide final products to designated government reviewers for adjudication
- Conduct research; draft responses to requests for information; review policy documents; develop papers, briefings, talking points, recommendations, and other deliverables; and brief findings to as needed
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- Must possess a Top Secret clearance and must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree or at least 5 years specialized work experience performing similar analytic work
- 6-years' experience supporting U.S. federal government security reviews, classification/declassification requests, or performing technical reviews of Freedom of Information Act requests
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills; ability to work in a team environment
- Skilled at research, analysis, and writing; experience authoring reports, assessments, responses to requests for information, talking points, briefings, and other products
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
HIGHLY DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- Demonstrated experience working in an Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD)/Joint Staff/Interagency environment
- In-depth knowledge of nuclear weapons systems and operations, nuclear weapons physical security and safety expertise, international nuclear cooperation programs expertise, nuclear forensics, nuclear survivability
- Knowledge of DoD capabilities to Combat Weapons of Mass Destruction (C-WMD)
