Senior Azure Cloud Administrator

Overview:

The Senior Cloud Administrator is responsible for configuring, maintaining, monitoring, and ensuring the reliability of cloud-based systems, software, and services. They resolve problems with services to limit disruptions to organizational operations. They perform regular updates and backup operations to protect data and anticipate the needs of users.


The Cloud Administrator stays up to date on new projects and services in use in the organization. They work on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. They exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. IAAS, PAAS and SAAS and other as-a-service solutions are all within scope.

Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and maintain cloud based virtual machines, services, and platforms.
  • Respond to technical issues in a professional and timely manner. Perform cross functionally to create user focused solutions in architecture and design. Provide expertise regarding the integration of solutions across the business.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software errors. Document problems and resolutions and assess the impact of issues which may require escalation to Senior Management.
  • Maintain operating efficiency and stability, ensure the security and integrity of all systems and data, and respond to outages and other issues.
  • Perform application administration activities such as creating, modifying, and deleting users, optimizing remote access, and security access for messaging systems, databases, and web applications.
  • Participate in technical analysis, design, construction, and testing. Recommend, document and support delivery of secure IT solutions that fulfill specific organizational requirements while addressing major architectural concepts, principles, and other guidelines.
  • Coordinate with department leadership to plan, design, and schedule the release of all software, hardware, and operating system updates.
  • Develop and enhance processes and technical documentation, create back-up procedures, test plans, and reports.
  • Prioritize and respond to requests for service and may provide escalation support to Helpdesk staff.
  • Perform regular updates and backup operations for data protection and recovery.
  • Apply organizational policy and procedure to resolve a variety of problems.
  • Create and manage policy, monitoring and automation to maintain a secure, standardized environment.
  • Conduct research, gather information, interpret data, identify requirements, and create a solution. Research and maintain knowledge in emerging technologies and their possible application to the organization.
  • Performing installation setup, deployments, testing, and validation related to deployments
  • Familiarity with aks cluster technologies, building apps in aks, restarting services and pods, troubleshooting containers etc …
  • Knowledge of Azure resources and management: subscriptions, resource groups, VMs, storage accounts, load balancers, app gateway, vNets, subnets, private endpoints, dns, recovery services vaults
  • Understand networking in azure and security concepts with cloud defender, best practices for deployments, NSGs, ASGs, application deployments, PaaS services, database support.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree and minimum 5 to 7 years' experience or equivalent experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of deployment orchestration and configuration management tools (Desired State Configuration, Azure Automation, Azure Sentinel, Azure Logic Apps, Kubernetes, Dev Ops, PowerShell).
  • Hands-on experience building and deploying containers utilizing Kubernetes and Helm.
  • Proficiency with scripting languages such as Windows PowerShell, Azure CLI, Bash, and Python.
  • Proficient in Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) with familiarity of helm chart modifications, persistent volumes and persistent volume claims utilizing Azure Storage Accounts and storage/retrieval of secrets.
  • Proficient in infrastructure development and administration such as maintaining and developing the Infrastructure as Code repository, (Azure DevOps, GitHub)
  • Demonstrates strong analytical and technical problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to analyze and operate at various levels of abstraction.
  • Ability to balance what is strategically right with what is practically realistic.
