Senior Facilities Technician
An opportunity to do something big. Babson Diagnostics is searching for an Senior Facilities Technician to join us on our team. In this role you will provide oversight for facilities activities to support clinical and laboratory manufacturing operations. Job Responsibilities:
- Maintain the performance and maintenance of all facilities and manufacturing finishing equipment operation. Will provide a very high level of troubleshooting, diagnoses and repair which includes, but not limited to temperature charts, solution piping, mixers, water system etc.
- Provide service on an emergency basis, weekends, facilities shutdowns, and overtime is required to provide system and equipment up time.
- Work closely with maintenance managers and engineering to analyze mechanical and electrical problems and work to resolve problems. Work closely with the maintenance field service technician to complete work orders and PM activities as scheduled.
- Communicate effectively when corresponding with internal and external customers.
- Analyze and develop solutions for complex mechanical and electrical problems. Must be able to solve any maintenance related problems for all manufacturing Process equipment.
- Out of town travel may be required for attendance of seminars or visits to vendors plants.
- Lifting of materials and equipment of up to 50 pounds on a periodic basis. Walking and traveling between buildings throughout all seasons.
- Require little supervision to accomplish his/her objectives, and proactively develops plans to ensure success in staff scheduling, planning and maintaining a 100% PM completion rate in support of production activities.
- Look for ways to increase knowledge base through additional training.
- Proactive leadership role in safe work practices by being an example to other employees. Point out unsafe conditions and unsafe practices to others including contractors.
- Solicit engineering assistance when tasks warrant additional help.
- Communicates equipment and work status to customers and management willingly and consistently.
- Initiate work orders and PMs for equipment when it becomes apparent that additional work is needed to maintain equipment reliability and efficiency.
- Take lead in noting repeat problems, breakdowns, or alarms and initiate work orders or engineering requests to resolve recurring issues.
- Ownership of continuous improvement and is accountable for the inclusion of new PMs and optimization of existing PMs.
- Accountable for onboard training and continuous training of mechanics and offer assistance to increase their knowledge base. This position willingly shares knowledge.
- Assist in planning and scheduling of major project work and will aggressively drive project work to completion on the maintenance side.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree, preferably in a technical discipline. Mechanical or electrical engineering technology degree a plus, at least 10 years’ experience
- Must have at least 10 years' experience with facility maintenances department within the pharmaceutical, medical device, or other regulated industry
- Requires a valid driver's license.
- Must be familiar with plant SOPs, critical system, corporate specifications governing the operation of the clinical laboratory process and local GMP practices. Abide by all plant safety rules and direct others in the application of plant safety rules.
- Understanding of current Good Manufacturing Practices, Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) regulatory guidelines.
- Knowledge of Refrigeration, Air Conditioning, Reverse osmosis water purification, Compressed air, and Chilled water
- Computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), and the Preventive Maintenance (PM) program.
- High level of analytical trouble shooting skills, electrical/electronic/HVAC and BMS schematic blueprint reading skills and understanding of control logic
