Senior Instrument Manufacturing Engineer

About this role:

10x Genomics is a rapidly growing company in the life sciences, whose core technology combines advances in instrumentation, chemistry, biochemistry, microfluidics and computational biology.

10x is looking for an outstanding individual to join its instrument development and sustaining team. This person will be responsible for manufacturing quality support for complex system equipment.

The ideal candidate will have a background in engineering and systems troubleshooting. Knowledge and hands on experience with quality, failure analysis, production assembly, calibration and control for instrument manufacturing with contract vendors are required.

What you will be doing:

  • Working to assure continuing quality of 10x hardware products
  • Support our Quality team to trend RMA actions
  • Measure and report key metrics for production quality and cost
  • Provide in-house failure analysis and repair of electro/mechanical equipment
  • Engage with contract manufacturers and internal instrument manufacturing to drive root cause investigations
  • Work with engineering team to correct issues found during manufacturing of new products
  • Review product designs for manufacturability and serviceability
  • Support the development of manufacturing test fixtures

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering: Mechanical, Electrical or Manufacturing with 5-7 years of experience
  • Ability to travel to overseas contract manufacturers (approximately 5%)
  • Desire to be part of a rapidly evolving organization, with a compelling technology, and taking products and processes to the next level
  • Experience with electrical/mechanical/optical manufacturing

Preferred skills and experience:

  • Experience with Solidworks
  • Experience with the creation of FMEAs and work instructions
  • Programming languages (python, C#, LabView)
  • JMP / Minitab experience
  • LEAN 6-sigma (greenbelt)
