The Talent & Leadership Development Specialist - Nurse Education is accountable for assessing, designing, developing, planning, and delivering learning and continuing education programs, staff development and competency assessments to meet the professional development needs of Be The Match/NMDP staff and network partners, and ensures the organization’s adherence to the accreditation requirements of relevant national accrediting bodies. This position is responsible for positively influencing the patient and donor experience by collaborating with cross-functional learning & development teams, and partners with organizational leaders to strategically identify and execute solutions to meet the organizational needs. This role’s assignments range from moderate to highly complex (e.g., highly technical or complex organizational leadership development initiatives). ACCOUNTABILITIES/Instructional Design:
- Apply instructional design principles (i.e., ADDIE) to assess professional practice gaps, design and develop instructional content, and evaluate the impact of learning solutions.
- Partner with cross-functional business teams to ensure adherence with various accreditation requirements
- Design and develop programs that include but are not limited to creating clinical and technical tools, job aids, eLearning content and handouts for select course offerings and programs including Nursing Continuing Professional Development, leadership and development workshops, etc.
- Produce learning solutions via various learning software and tools.
- Apply appropriate knowledge and skills in consulting, adult learning, instructional design methodologies, and evaluation methods.
- Act as Nurse Planner in the development of course content with requestor seeking Nursing Continuing Professional Development contact hours.
- Acts as a liaison with learning and development experts across the organization.
Continuing Education Accreditation:
- Maintains up to date knowledge of accreditation requirements for relevant national accrediting organizations (i.e., ACCME, ANCC, ASWB etc.)
- Acts as liaison to other departments and network partners regarding continuing education requirements and inquiries.
- Ensures quality control of compliance in documentation for all certified activities, including preparation of required annual activity reports to accrediting bodies.
- Manages and evaluates commercial support vendors.
- Manages initial accreditation (as appropriate) and reaccreditation application processes.
Program Facilitation:
- Deliver instructor led training programs including curriculum design, material development, and facilitation.
- Coordinate and manage outsourced facilitators, including vendors.
- Execute the strategy for leadership-, team- or career-development programs.
Project Management:
- Demonstrates strong project management and ability to lead, design and develop projects with tight deadlines.
- Collaborates in cross-functional (and cross-vertical) teams to identify performance needs and drive appropriate learning strategy.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS/Knowledge of:
- Intermediate to advanced adult learning principles, teaching techniques, change management principles, project management and instructional design.
- Performance consultation techniques.
- Authoring software, such as Articulate Rise, and MS office.
- Advanced interpersonal and problem-solving, mediation and customer service skills.
- Strong professional communication, writing and organizational skills, phone-based skills, and presentation skills.
Ability to:
- Apply current and emerging instructional design principles and learner-centered design methods to create effective educational programs.
- Engage diverse audiences through learning programs with impactful outcomes.
- Ability to learn and understand the NMDP network and health care professional accreditation requirements.
- Establish strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts across team to design and develop learning solutions.
- Manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
- Handle and maintain confidential information.
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree and a minimum 5 years of learning and development experience
- Degree in nursing, health care or another relevant field
- Experience in instructional design, outcome-based program design, e-learning design, and/or instructional technology.
- Licensure: Valid RN License
