SUMMARY:
The Weekend Supervisor, Materials Control will work in harmony with functional leaders across the organization to support Manufacturing operations and drive adherence to schedule while keeping a GMP mindset to provide materials in a quality and compliant manner. The Supervisor will ensure compliance, accuracy, and efficiency of operation, to grow capacity while maintaining focus on achieving on key company directives and timelines. Supervisors will provide training and oversight to ensure daily operations meet company and department standards. The Supervisor will grow and develop employees within the Materials Control staff to drive department improvement and support future growth.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide exceptional customer service to all customers internal and external.
- Ensure prompt and accurate responses are provided to queries involving materials control and/or inventory related issues
- Supervise the daily operations across shifts and warehouses; including, but not limited to operating issues relative to materials delivery, transportation, production status, and inventory control that impact plant operations.
- Organize, delegate and prioritize staff and workload for inbound receiving, inspection, inventory management, weigh/dispense/kitting, distribution, drug substance freeze-down and storage, and outbound shipping operations.
- Ensure priorities and performance meet expectations. Ensures labor allocation is appropriate to support production without delays.
- Plan and coordinate efficient transfer of materials and finished products to and from production and warehouse areas. Supervise transportation operators to ensure quality, timeliness, and accuracy of operation.
- Recommend and develop plans and strategies for continuous improvement.
- Drive best practices for warehouse operations and related logistical activities, as well as inventory management, warehouse staff development, and performance metrics
- Develop employees through coaching, training, and mentoring. Supervise training program for new employees, as well as ongoing training for all Materials Control personnel.
- Operate as asset owner for Materials Control department equipment/spaces including, but not limited to: Ensuring regular maintenance is performed on time and per policy, equipment performs within expected parameters, existing equipment meets current and expected demand/space requirements, and employees are properly trained to respond to alarms.
- Conduct investigations related to materials management issues; implements corrective and preventative action plans to address deficient areas identified and to ensure adherence to all compliance based programs.
- Adhere to and trains staff for all environmental, health and safety SOPs, regulatory requirements, equipment, policies and procedures, including any department specific requirements.
- Ensure CAPA's, CR's, and Deviations are addressed and managed in a prompt and thorough fashion, and closed on time.
- Additional responsibilities to support supply chain or company activities as designated by management
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Ability to complete HAZMAT and IATA training, a requirement of performing portions of the work
- Ability to operate hand truck, lift trucks and other equipment, ability to certify and train other operators
- Strong collaborative skills, ability to develop working relationships with a wide range of people
- Effective written and verbal communication skills; ability to effectively communicate to all levels of the organization
- Strong attention to detail and assistance in making adjustments, locating errors, and resolution of inventory issues
- Exceptional attention to detail, organizational, analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds, with or without assistance of tandem lift or other materials handling equipment
- Ability to work in confined spaces
- Ability to work in refrigerated environments
- Ability to work additional hours and/or be on call as needed to support operational needs
- Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
- Working knowledge of kanban, min/max, ERP, MRP and inventory management systems
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field, with a minimum of five years' experience handling and transacting lot-controlled inventory (preferably in a GMP environment)
- APICS, NAPM, or CLM certification or equivalent training is highly desirable
- Equivalent education and experience may substitute for stated requirements
