Position Summary:

The responsibilities of this position are to monitor, direct and motivate the performance of a team of Production Technicians. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to devise and implement process improvements to increase workflow efficiencies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise a team including setting goals for the team, performance management, career development, and overseeing daily work while contributing to the daily lab projects
  • Work side by side with employees in the lab, mentoring, training and motivating personnel
  • Ensure that product is manufactured according to deadline.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to perform troubleshooting/process and product improvement experiments.
  • Organize all the daily activities within the laboratory including safety, maintenance, supplies and calibration of equipment.
  • Provide technical guidance for team members. Help team members overcome technical problems. Increase the knowledge of all team members.
  • Address employee issues and serve as a role model in professional behavior
  • Attend meetings and ensures that action items are completed.
  • Lead the team in identifying and implementing process improvements that will increase workflow efficiencies.
  • Draft and revise SOPs as needed.
  • Display a willingness to learn new concepts and techniques.
  • Follow company policies and practices as outlined in the Handbook and follows guidelines regarding safety as outlined in the AWAIR, Chemical Hygiene and Exposure Control manuals in accordance to the job.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

  • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 2 to 4 years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated leadership capacity required
  • Previous leadership experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of laboratory equipment, which includes the use of all instruments related to hematology.
  • Ability to pay attention to details and perform at a high level of accuracy.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel are required.
  • Proficient in planning, organizational, and multi-tasking skills to complete assignments in an efficient manner in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and ability to collaborate across different groups.
  • Skills in problem solving including the ability to identify and appropriately evaluate an alternative course of action.
  • Skills in leading and supervising.
  • Skills in establishing effective interpersonal relationships such as the ability to solicit key ideas and information.
  • Strong ability to communicate professionally, both oral and written.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and proprietary information with discretion and confidentiality.
  • Ability to effectively train new employees.
  • Skills in planning such as identifying and organizing action steps to achieve desired results.
