Alpine Immune Sciences is seeking an experienced, energetic, and creative Vice President, Marketing and Pipeline Planning reporting to the Chief Business Officer. The successful candidate will work with senior management to build Alpine’s marketing and competitive intelligence function and to build and execute Alpine’s commercial strategy across its pipeline through quantitative and qualitative research. In addition, this candidate will proactively track and drive key insights from industry trends and developments to inform corporate strategy and commercial planning. This is a critical leadership position within the Company. As such, the successful candidate will work closely with the Chief Business Officer and other executives to formulate Alpine’s overall marketing and commercial strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop a deep and thorough understanding of the Company’s pipeline and corporate strategy; clearly and compellingly support the delivery of this strategy to both internal and external audiences through clear and compelling written and oral communication, in compliance with corporate policies and securities regulations.
- Create an internal partnership structure to ensure that key stakeholders have access to information, market context, analysis and recommendations relevant to our pipeline. This includes developing dynamic dashboards and aligning on mid/long term opportunities, competitive threats, and macro trends that will impact forecasts and strategy.
- Bring an external market and commercial perspective to strategic priority reviews through combination of commercial and scientific analytical capabilities to help shape our pipeline development strategy.
- Source and manage external data and consulting partners to conduct primary research and a wide range of secondary sources from clinical trials to investor/analyst platforms.
- Lead competitive intelligence and conduct strategic analyses (e.g., competitive landscape assessments, gap analyses, comparable deals, etc.) required to assess and execute partnership and collaboration opportunities.
- Track analyst coverage, clinical trial updates, competitor events and work with numerous CI databases to extract insights from R&D and medical sources.
- Develop dynamic tools for ongoing evaluation and scenario planning of pipeline development opportunities and forecasts
- Coordinate and cooperate cross-functionally with R&D, Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs other functions as required to execute the Company’s marketing strategy and ensure strategic solutions carry a cross-functional perspective
- Develop deep relationships with global KOLs, patient advocacy groups, and key customers to identify customer needs and drive commercial development
Education, Experience, Skills:
- Undergraduate degree in biological sciences and/or engineering
- MD and/or PhD in life sciences strongly preferred.
- 10+ years of successful experience in biotech/pharma investment banking, equity research, management consulting, venture capital, or biotech/pharma corporate strategy and planning.
- In-depth understanding of the drug development process, small molecules, biologics, and other platforms in immunology
- Strong analytical, forecasting, and financial modeling capabilities coupled with an understanding of financial accounting and valuation.
- Data sciences and database management experience.
- Experience designing and conducting qualitative and quantitative surveys
- Excellent project management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple work streams and deadlines, balance opposing priorities and communicate effectively.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills.
- Enthusiastic self-starter with initiative and ability to execute once strategies are set.
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Requirement for credibility with senior internal stakeholders and ability to represent objective commercial analysis
- Proven record in providing insightful commercial and market insight
- Knowledge of MS Office applications and especially strong in Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to travel up-to 25% of the time, including occasional off-hours and weekend work for events and medical and partnering meetings.
